Events DJ / MC.
The night
nobody wants
to end.
From the first guest through the door to the last song nobody wants to be the last.

Every room
reads
differently.
Galas, fundraisers, end-of-year parties, 5 à 7s, summer parties, brand activations. Hundreds of rooms, each with its own brief. It starts before the night: we align on the run of show, the tone and what the moment needs to say, then Back to Basics delivers the full production behind it, sound, lighting and audiovisual, so one team carries the whole night.

BACK TO
BASICS.
I have been behind the decks since 2011 and founded Back to Basics Entertainment in 2016, with one idea: strip a night back to what it is actually for, bringing people together and carrying them through a story, from the first song to the last.
Today that idea runs more than 150 events a year, weddings and corporate rooms in Montréal and abroad, with full audio and visual production, special effects and live entertainment carried by one team.
Every event is built bespoke, personalized down to the details, because the memories are meant to last.
Read the room.

Questions I get
every week.
Can we just use a Spotify playlist?
A playlist plays songs you chose weeks ago. A DJ watches the room and changes course. A friend asked me exactly this before his partner's 40th. Fifty guests, and he was certain nobody would dance. They were meant to finish at 10 and left at 2:30 in the morning. If nobody is dancing at your wedding, a playlist will not notice.
Do you MC as well, and in both languages?
Yes. Introductions, speeches, the running order, keeping the night on schedule, in English and French. In Montréal most rooms hold both. A night falls flat when half the guests miss the moment. Switching between them is part of the job, not an extra.
Do you travel for destination weddings?
Regularly, across Europe and the Middle East as well as anywhere in Canada. Travel and equipment abroad take planning, so the earlier you tell me the date and the country, the better. Tell me where you are getting married and I will tell you honestly what is involved.
How far ahead should we book?
Most couples reach out twelve to eighteen months before the date, and Saturdays between June and October go first. That said, if your date is close, ask anyway. Plans change and dates open up.
What do you need from our venue?
Very little. I know most of Montréal's venues already, and when a room is new to me I deal with their team directly: power, access, sound limits, timing, all settled vendor to vendor before the day. It is a hands-on relationship with your venue, so none of it lands on you.
Your night.
Your story.
Scored live.
Tell me your date and a little about the night you are imagining. I answer every inquiry personally, within 24 hours.
